PORTABLE BATTLE TOY
A playful solution for college life on the move
A playful solution for college life on the move
This project emerged from a deep dive into how college students play, revealing frustrations with bulky, hard-to-carry games. We saw an opportunity to create a toy that’s as portable and spontaneous as campus life itself.
The concept: A pocket-sized action figure that snaps to your phone via integrated MagSafe magnets. When detached, it springs to life to battle your friends’ toys — a playful, social game that fits seamlessly into backpacks and dorm rooms.
What I did:
- Led research interviews with students to uncover real pain points
- Conducted market analysis & mapped competitive landscapes
- Generated design criteria and explored dozens of “what if” scenarios
- Sketched concepts, then built low- and mid-fidelity prototypes to test size, interaction, and appeal
- This project taught me how to merge playful storytelling with functional design, always centered around the user’s real needs.
